The theme of WEDA's 2010 Midwest Chapter Meeting was “The Importance of Dredging to The Environment and The Economy.”  Our own Tim Harrington, PE and Mark Loerop, PE presented two recent dredging projects directly related to the theme of the conference.  The presentations were well recieved well with many questions asked regarding the challenges experienced during site activities.

Mark Loerop presented on the St. Louis River/Interlake/Duluth Tar (SLRIDT) Superfund Site 2010 Tallas Island Compensatory Mitigation Winter Dredging Project in Duluth, MN.   Mark discussed the dredging of an area to compensate for fish and habitat loss due to remedial activities (dredging/cover/capping), and the re-establish the pre-existing area known as Tallas Island.  Click here for Mark's presentation.
